Dmytro Tyshchenko has already opened three coffee shops under the AROMA KAVA franchise

‘Either I bum down and go to work abroad or it will work out. Thus, I had to go behind coffee machine’, Dmytro Tyshchenko who opened three AROMA KAVA franchises, recounted first difficulties and achievements.

He was only 22 years old when he opened his first coffee shop.

‘In 2017 I lived and studied in Kyiv. I saw by myself how extensively and to what success Aroma Kava coffee shops were opening in Kyiv. An idea to start the same coffee shop in my native city Kherson came up to me’, told successful businessman.

Dmytro had been in negotiations quite long, searching for a proper location, preparing for the opening and tried to take into account all the details. Even though, he faced certain difficulties, as it was his first business experience.

‘Definitely I was scared when was opening the first coffee shop – first business, first AROMA KAVA in the city, moreover I borrowed at interest to start this business. At that time, I had two variants: either I bummed down and went to work abroad or it would work out. I realized immediately without my hard work and dedication nothing would work out. That is why, at the very beginning I had to go behind coffee machine myself’, recalls Dmytro.

Nevertheless, there was nothing to worry. There were uniform standards, well-thought-out menu, smooth-running goods delivery and well-known brand that attracted customers just by its name.

Thanks to that starting from the first day, the coffee shop brought expected cash and inspired Dmytro with confidence: ‘In a year after opening of the first coffee shop I was already able to open the second one’.

When asked what are the reasons of success Dmytro answered out of hand:

‘About half of success is a proper location. Especially in a competitive and economic environment. All the rest is tasty drinks and good customer service’.

Although, to find a good staff this is a challenge. Specially, when you bear in mind that coffee shop is opened 24/7. Despite that, AROMA KAVA helps a lot in staff recruitment and training, only 15% of those who applied for a job stay to work for more or less long period. It is quite easy to grow from a trainee to a senior barista or administrator:

‘One girl who has been working with me from the very first day and helped to open first coffee shop currently is an administrator and my right hand’, - shared businessman.

Further, important element of success is to meet the standards of the network: ‘Menu, products and basics of operation – everything is prepared for you and polished to the last detail. If you do not want to meet the standards then open your own coffee shop’.

Although, the standards in the most cases is not a burden rather a huge help for the start-upper.

‘When you buy a franchise the cost includes not only developed standards, mobile application, marketing support, but also a competitive price from the suppliers, smooth-running deliveries, trusted quality of products and polished operational processes’.

When asked whether Dmytro would open one more coffee shop he answered in the affirmative. However, he has not yet come up to a decision whether to start in a small city in Kherson region where competition is lower or in a regional centre where it is easy to control operational business processes by himself.

Despite personal control according to Dmytro there are several qualities that should have a successful businessman:

Hard-working nature, assertiveness and strong belief in your business. Business is not just an investment income but also work, work and work again. And not only your personal and staff work but also development of the network.
